What are some good places to shop for plants in the Twin Cities area?

I'm a college guy and don't have a clue about plants really, but I was reading about how certain types filter air and can make you happier. I am interested in buying a couple just for my small room. Does anyone know of any nurseries or stores around the Twin Cities that would have a good selection for very cheap? Price would be a big issue. Also, if they had something really cool like a Venus Flytrap to eat the centipedes in my room, that would be great, too. Thanks in advance for the help! ---Clueless About Plants

  1. I suggest you go to Home depot. Buy a rubber plant or some kind of palm - don't buy geraniums, they give off a toxic fume. Kill your centipedes one by one - don't use poison.
  2. Check out Bachman's to get an idea of what you like (they give very good information, too). Then run out to WalMart (one of the bigger ones, like on University in St. Paul) and actually buy the plants there (or at Home Depot). They will be a LOT less expensive, and if the plants are healthy when you get them they should be find. We got our last Venus FlyTrap at Walmart in Eden Prairie. I don't know if they'll eat centipedes, though....... Oh - sometimes Ikea has really nice plants, too, and their prices are really good. Centipedes in your room??? I hope you don't live anywhere near me! Seriously!!
