What schools are doing research in sterotyping and prejudice?

I am looking into graduate school(late i know) My main interests are stereotype and discrimination. Though i find research on personality specially Right-wing authoritarianism and Social dominance interesting. Are there any graduate school that i may have missed in my search that are doing good research in this area?

  1. That's great that you already have some idea of what you would like to study while in graduate school. I am currently getting my Ph.d in experimental cognitive psychology, and it's been great. Looking for a good graduate school program is very different from looking for a good college. In college, it's all about "how well respected" the school is, but in graduate school, the university itself does not really matter much. If you are looking to get a Ph.d (which I expect, because you listed research interests), the faculty advisor (mentor) you work with in graduate school will be FAR more important than *where* you are at. It's all about finding the right faculty advisor to work with, and that is what you should be making your application decisions on. People who are doing research you are interested are probably scattered across the globe. Because you have such specific research interests, you can't pick any school and find someone who does research on sterotyping and social dominance. You have to first find the researchers who you admire and are well known in the field, and then go find them. If you haven't already, start reading articles from scholarly journals in psychology and find out the names of the major researchers/authors in the field that interests you. Hopefully when the time comes for you to apply to graduate school, you will have discovered a number of researchers whose work you admire, and apply to work with them, wherever they're at. If that sounds too daunting, try to talk to some professors at your university who are doing research you are interested in, and they can help guide you. I'm sorry I can't give you specific names of well known people in the field, because this is not my area of expertise, but Dr. Jennifer Bosson and Dr. Joseph Vandello are two social psychologists I know who do work on stereotyping. Please feel free to message me if you want to talk more.
